Denise Battaglia first finished a commercial apprenticeship. She then studied philosophy at the University of Basel after completing her Matura (AKAD). She wrote her doctoral thesis on technical progress and the changing image of man in medicine. During her studies, she worked as a journalist for Swiss daily newspapers and magazines. Later, she was responsible for issuing an ethics magazine at a medical ethics institute in Zurich. Denise Battaglia is a lecturer at the FHNW School of Business in the Bachelor's degree programme and an ethics lecturer in continuing education programmes at the FHNW and at the Kalaidos School of Business.

• 2017–2019: PhD under the supervision of Jean-Pierre Wils, Full Professor of Political Philosophy and Philosophy of Culture, Radboud University Nijmegen (NL);
• 2002–2008: Studies in philosophy, pedagogy and English literature at the University of Basel.

• 2011–2017: Research associate at the Interdisciplinary Institute for Ethics in Health Care, Dialog Ethik, Zurich (mandate basis): Head of publications, lecturer on ethics in health care for professionals;
• 2012–2016: Project management of the four-year project «Center for Ethics at the Children's Hospital Zurich» at the Children's Hospital Zurich (30 %);
• 1992–2020: Journalist for Swiss print media and specialist journals (politics, society, science) and author of popular science books.

• 2019–to date: Lecturer with teaching assignment for the module «Grundlagen verantwortungsbewussten Entscheidens» within the scope of the Bachelor's programme at the FHNW School of Business;
• 2019–to date: Lecturer in «Business Ethics» as part of the CAS in «Customer Experience Management» at the Institute for Leadership and HR at the Kalaidos School of Business, Zurich (one day);
• 2019–to date (biennial course): Lecturer in medical ethics as part of the CAS in «Grundlagen der Suchtarbeit» at the Institute of Social Work and Health of the School of Social Work of the FHNW (one day);
