Dozent, Kompetenzschwerpunkt Technology, Organisation & People
Safak Korkut, MA ist seit 2009 an der Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz (FHNW) im Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter tätig. Davor hat er an den Hochschulen für Gestaltung und Kunst (HGK) und der Hochschule für Wirtschaft (HSW) als interdisziplinärer Designforscher gearbeitet. Nach dem Studium an der HGK im Master of Arts in Visual Communication and Iconic Research und der Erstellung einer entsprechenden Master-Arbeit mit dem Titel „Creating Individual Experiences Through Non-Linear Network Structures in Moving Images“, hat er die Firma YAAY Visualizing Complexity mitgegründet und dort als Designer und Data-Storyteller mitgearbeitet. Seit 2010 hat er in diversen Visualisierungsprojekten mit YAAY gearbeitet, von denen einige mit internationalen Design Awards ausgezeichnet wurden. In 2015, als ein Mitglied von YAAY, hat er an der Design School der University of Cincinnati (USA) einen Design- und Datenvisualisierungsworkshop durchgeführt.
An der HSW nimmt er aktuell als Design- und Datenvisualisierungsforscher an der Strategischen Initiative Alternde Gesellschaft (2015) im Projekt Altersatlas und am KTI-Projekt BioCompass (2016) teil, in dem ein Interface zur Visualisierung von Blutwerten erstellt wird. Zuvor war er Teil des Teams der Strategischen Initiative Wissenschaftliche Kommunikation (2012) und Projektleiter des Teams der HGK in der Strategischen Initiative Simulated Reality (2013). Er ist Teil des Kompetenzschwerpunkts „New Trends & Innovations" und unterrichtet unter anderem „Anwendungsorientierte Video-Kommunikation und -Produktion“ im Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (International Management) sowie „Games and Gamification“ im Elective Social Media and Customer Experience im Master of Science in International Management, „Gamified Technologies towards New Business Models“ im Elective Innovative Topics in Information Systems im Master of Science in Business Information Systems, „Business Photography“ im Business Networking and Social Media Elective. Er führt zusammen mit Janine Jäger diverse Workshops über neue Technologien und interdisziplinäre Forschungsmodelle an der HSW und bei externen Organisationen und Konferenzen durch. Er hat wissenschaftliche Publikationen über die Themen Gamification, Learning Games, Data Analysis und Datenvisualisierung in verschiedenen Bereichen zusammen mit anderen Forschern geschrieben. Er betreut weiterhin Bachelor- und Masterthesen in den Bereichen Virtual Reality, neue Technologien, Ambient Sensors, Gamification und Datenvisualisierung seit 2013.
