Wearable devices for aircraft mechanics
To help aircraft mechanics, students developed applications on various wearable devices.
On behalf of Swiss AviationSoftware (Swiss-AS), we investigated the use of mobile end devices – or "wearable devices" – for aircraft mechanics. On the one hand, the project involved implementing use cases specified by the client while focussing on usability and innovative user experience and, on the other hand, finding out whether the "wearable devices" are useful in the application area mentioned and offer additional benefits in interaction with one another.
To this end, we first researched the current status of developments in the area. Based on this research, we created usability design concepts and implemented the use cases. The applications were tested and then evaluated in two phases by potential end users in a usability laboratory as well as directly in the workplace (field testing).
