Columbian art for the FHNW

The President of the FHNW Board of Directors welcomed His Excellency Ambassador Francisco Echeverri Lara and the Cultural Attaché of the Colombian Embassy in Switzerland.

So that his art can inspire young people, Rafael Nuñez Oneiros donated two series of paintings to FHNW, which are currently exhibited at the FHNW Campus Olten in the atrium. The artist explained the background to his works. The watercolour cycle Faunearium depicts the fantastic bestiary that lives in the artist’s memory. It represents his perception of the mysterious, primal power of nature. The mutamecanics, or mechanical mutations, are works in different formats and techniques. They focus on a constructive and deconstructive play with the mechanical reality of the 90s by creating a multitude of imaginary plays with the car as the status symbol of that time.

The evening was framed by Ana Maria Fonseca, alumna of the Basel Academy of Music, Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, and the Colombian-Swiss musiscian Ivan Denes. They played traditional music of Colombian indigenous peoples on old instruments. The evening ended with a Colombian aperitif with empanadas, platanos fritos and ceviche organised by the restaurant of the FHNW Campus Olten.
