Newly appointed HGK Basel Advisory Board for 2025 to 2028
The HGK Basel Advisory Board has been newly appointed for the 2025 to 2028 performance mandate period. Well-known personalities from the world of art and design advise the HGK Basel on the development of the university with their expertise.
Since 2021, the HGK Basel has been able to count on the expertise of renowned individuals from the artistic and design working world on its Advisory Board. The Advisory Board provides professional, scientific, and practical guidance and advice to the academy in its development. With its external perspective, it ensures quality and supports the further development of HGK Basel.
After a first term of office, the HGK Basel’s Management Board has now decided on the new composition of the Advisory Board for the upcoming performance mandate period 2025–2028. The newly appointed Advisory Board is made up of three existing and six new members:
• Dr. Danah Abdulla, Associate Professor at Decolonising the Arts Institute and the Design School at Camberwell, Chelsea, and Wimbledon Colleges of Art at the University of the Arts London (Advisory Board Member 2021–2024, 2025–2028)
• Dr. Hazbi Avdiji, Professor for diversity and inclusion, Business School Lausanne (Advisory Board Member 2025–2028)
• Sarah Harbarth, CEO and Founder of KUORI (Advisory Board Member 2025–2028)
• Prof. Gabi Schillig, Professor for Space-Related Systems and Exhibition Design at the Universität der Künste, Berlin (Advisory Board Member 2021–2024, 2025–2028)
• Christoph Schmid, Partner and Design Lead Interactive Things, Zürich (Advisory Board Member 2024–2028)
• Johanna Seelemann, Designer, Leipzig/Reykjavik (Advisory Board Member 2025–2028)
• Pedro Wirz, Artist, Zürich (Advisory Board Member 2024–2028)
• Maja Wismer, Head of Contemporary Art, Kunstmuseum Basel (Advisory Board Member 2025–2028)
• Esther Zumsteg, Director Kabinett Herzog & de Meuron, Basel (Advisory Board Member 2021–2024, 2025–2028)
The HGK Basel considers itself very fortunate to have so many different perspectives and areas of expertise on its advisory board and is looking forward to a stimulating exchange over the next four years.
