Stella Gatziu Grivas received her PhD from the University of Zurich in the field of active databases under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Klaus Dittrich. She created and realised the active and object oriented Database Management System SAMOS, which was one of the first open source active database systems offering complex event processing. After the completion of her PhD, Stella supported the team of Klaus Dittrich as a senior assistant, and worked on the construction of a database service – which was at that time a complete novelty throughout the world. She also initiated projects in data warehousing and workflow management. After that, Stella Gatziu Grivas was employed at Credit Suisse as a senior consultant for IT Strategy.
Since August 2007, Stella Gatziu Grivas has been a full professor at the Institute for Information Systems at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland where she is head as well as researcher at the competence center Cloud Computing, Digitalisation & Transformation and her research interests lie in the fields of cloud computing, digitalisation and transformation. She is on the board of EuroCloud Swiss and holds the congress management of the FHNW Cloud Days.
