Flavia Bon becomes Visiting Professor at the HGK Basel
From 1 September 2025, Flavia Bon will be a Visiting Professor in the Bachelor's study programme in Fashion Design at the Institute Contemporary Design Practices (ICDP) of the HGK Basel, where she will be teaching digital fashion and tailoring techniques.
The HGK Basel is happy to welcome Flavia Bon as a Visiting Professor in the BA Fashion Design programme at the Institute Contemporary Design Practices (ICDP) for three years starting 1 September 2025.
Flavia Bon is a trained tailor and later studied fashion design at the HGK Basel. She then worked for Sruli Recht, Reykjavik (IS) and ECCO Leather B.V., Dongen (NL), among others. In 2017 she founded her first own company STUDIO BON, Breda (NL) and in 2021 together with Anita Michaluszko AUGMENTED WEAVING (NL).
With Augmented Weaving and their digital fashion collection “On The Fraying Edge”, Flavia Bon and Anita Michaluszko were winners of this year's Swiss Design Award, which is presented annually by the Federal Office of Culture during the Art Basel fair.
In addition to her successful practice, Flavia Bon has international teaching experience, including the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, (NL), the DSKD Design School Kolding (DK), the EKA Design Academy for Arts, Tallinn (EE), the Accademia Internazionale d'Alta Moda e d'Arte del Costume KOEFIA, Rome (IT), and the Fashion Foundry, the Assembly & British Council, Lagos (NG).
Flavia Bon is interested in holographic catwalks, the interplay between textiles and bodies in motion, traditional craftsmanship and digital technologies as well as archives of digital craft techniques. At the HGK Basel, Prof. Flavia Bon will be teaching in the field of digital fashion and tailoring techniques.
In its current development, the HGK Basel is increasingly focusing on contemporary, high-quality degree programmes that strengthen research, teaching and collaboration. Diversity, digitality, sustainability and current social transformations play a major role in this.
With Prof. Flavia Bon, the HGK Basel has gained another committed professor who knows how to act excellently in this range of topics.
