The Institute for Counseling, Coaching and Social Management maintains close contact with practice – with a view to identifying and to developing new organisational models, state-of-the-art approaches to leadership, and forward-looking approaches to counseling!
We specialise in counseling and coaching processes and in understanding the ways in which organisational planning, leadership, and steering work most effectively. We teach and research, shape professional practice, and advise practitioners.
Our focus on 'Counseling' brings together competencies in the various forms of social work consultancy. We offer state-of-the-art consultancy training within basic and further training, attractive further education courses in these areas, and consultancy research on blended counseling. We develop guidelines and concepts in close association with field organisations.
Coaching supports individuals with implementing their projects and reaching their goals through enhancing their self-steering and self-management skills. Our focus on 'Coaching' makes us an internationally acclaimed centre of coaching excellence: We offer further training, host the international congress 'Coaching Meets Research' and the one-day input symposium 'Coaching and Social Work,' implement research and services projects, and publish pathbreaking research.
Our focus on 'Social Management' concentrates on the outcome-oriented planning and leadership of organisations and on providing social services. Our practice-led, needs-oriented research, development, and further training support public administrations, social enterprises, and networks with performing their tasks.
The FHNW School of Social Work attaches great importance to research and development. The Institute for Counseling, Coaching and Social Management undertakes commissioned and self-initiated research and development projects in the following areas:
