BCIT Faculty Field School at FHNW School of Business
The FHNW School of Business welcomed a delegation of faculty staff from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) at the FHNW Campus in Olten.
From 20 – 29 June 2022, the Canadian delegation took part in a Faculty Field School to exchange knowledge of global business trends and discuss best practices in internationalising the business curriculum. The intensive programme featured, among others, presentations on the future of banking, workshops on higher education from a global perspective and visits to various Swiss companies and organisations. As a special highlight, Trade Commissioners with the Canadian Embassy to Switzerland and Liechtenstein provided insightful inputs on the economic relations between Canada and Switzerland.
The visit marks an important step in the cooperation between the two institutions. Currently, the FHNW School of Business and the BCIT are in advanced discussions about a double degree cooperation in the bachelor’s degree programme Business Information Technology. This would open up new international perspectives and opportunities in terms of student mobility between two countries that share a strong partnership.
International partners
Building on a free trade agreement established 2009, economic ties between Canada and Switzerland have grown stronger. Canada is Switzerland's second-largest economic partner in the Americas. In 2020, Switzerland imported almost CHF 1.8 billion worth of goods from Canada and exported goods valued at CHF 3.9 billion to Canada.
Moreover, in 2018, Canada and Switzerland signed a Joint Statement on Science, Technology and Innovation, aiming to promote cooperation between Canadian and Swiss institutions in these domains. The efforts of the FHNW School of Business contribute to this increased exchange and strengthen our partner university network in international business education.
