New member of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis directorial team
Great News - we look forward to working with him!
We are pleased to announce that Christian Hilz has been appointed as a member of the directorial team of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Following Thomas Drescher's retirement in September 2022 he will be part of the new collaborative leadership (which will be presented in depth at a later date) responsible for the future and further development of the Schola.
As a baritone, Christian Hilz performs in the music centres of Europe and America and has made a name for himself as a versatile performer with a wide-ranging repertoire. Main focuses are on the late Baroque, Romantic and the Lied repertoire of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Christian Hilz studied voice and musical theatre at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen. Further studies in theatre and music management at the LMU Munich, additional qualifications and artistic consultancy work for various festivals broadened his view on the world of music. He is familiar with the Swiss system of higher music education: as a professor of voice and chamber music, he has taught at the Berne University of the Arts and the Swiss Opera Studio since 2009. Since 2015, he has also been artistic director of the Austria Barock Akademie.
We warmly welcome him and look forward to working with him!
