Laboratory for Optical Metrology FHNW

For experimental investigations, our optical metrology laboratory offers various optical measurement techniques covering a wide range of applications.

    Our Offer

Do you need support with the visualisation and investigation of flows, sprays and temperature distributions? The optical measurement technology in our laboratory offers decisive advantages for this. This is because quantitative measurements can often only be achieved optically without influencing the boundary conditions or the application itself, such as in a flow. In addition, the experimentally recorded data often serves as a valuable basis for the validation of simulations.

We have experience in using the available measuring equipment in a wide range of applications. Our core competences lie in the following areas:

    • Flow measurement (liquid and gaseous; laminar/turbulent)
    • Measurement of nozzle sprays (droplet sizes, distribution and velocities)
    • 2-dimensional temperature measurement
    • Diagnostics for combustion processes

The areas of application for optical measurement methods are constantly being expanded and our expertise extended - just ask us!
