Inline measurement of density and refractive index during liquid-liquid extraction
26. January 2023
The combination of membrane-supported liquid-liquid extraction with inline concentration measurement of the two phases allows the mass transfer to be monitored continuously without additional offline analysis. Since mixing and separation of the two liquid phases is not required, the process can be operated continuously without long settling times. In discontinuous operation, inline measurement is used to determine the kinetic data and to determine the termination time. For the investigation of this separation technique, a simple setup is sufficient to easily determine the required contactor area for a technical process in a short time, in addition to the feasibility in principle.
