Cyberhero Transformation: Empowering the Next Generation at Swiss National Future Day 2024
The Competence Center Digital Trust welcomed over 20 motivated young participants, aged 10 to 13, for a day of exploration, education, and empowerment during the Swiss National Future Day 2024. Led by Hermann Grieder and Janine Jäger, the interactive workshop aimed to equip children with the skills to navigate the digital world responsibly and safely.
The workshop delved into some of the internet’s biggest threats, such as cyberbullying, data privacy breaches, and phishing scams. Through engaging discussions and hands-on activities, the participants explored ways to identify risks and protect themselves online.
One of the workshop’s highlights was a game designed to sharpen the children’s ability to differentiate between information, opinions, and fake news. This activity not only highlighted the importance of critical thinking but also encouraged participants to reflect on their own online activities.
Our most important takeaway is that young people encounter the dangers of the internet early in their digital lives. By promoting critical thinking and responsible behavior already at an early age through proactive education and providing children with the right tools and guidance, we ensure they become empowered and responsible actors in the digital space.
