The Cell Biology and In vitro Toxicology group had a strong presence at the Annual Meeting of the Swiss Society of Toxicology in Basel on November 14th 2024, where we presented three posters describing results on diverse in vitro systems.

Michaela Caj presented her poster on the Cytotoxicity of Helleborus foetidus extracts in cancer cell lines and primary cells. It included data generated in collaboration with Prof. Olivier Potterat (University of Basel) and Iscador AG, in the context of an Innosuisse-funded project.

Floriana Burgio reported on the results of a collaboration with the Patrick Shahgaldian’s Molecular Nanotechnology group, funded by the SNI (Nanoargovia program), investigating the Toxicity and cellular trafficking of functionalized nanoparticles for drug delivery through the Blood-Brain Barrier.

Zahra (Neli) Motamed showed the progress of her exciting PhD research on Alzheimer’s Disease and the involvement of mitochondria in this devastating disease in her poster titled Mitochondrial function in an in vitro model of Familial Alzheimer’s disease.
