Eating the right foods can lead to a longer, healthier life. To increase your lifespan, check out the major food groups that help you live longer. With the right contribution of food you can aim for a healthy balanced diet.

Breads, pasta and cereals
Try to eat at least 3 servings a day. The the body needs them for energy. Good choices are wholemeal, wholegrain bread, brown rice, couscous and polenta for carbohydrates.
Fruit and vegetables
To be supplied with vitamins, minerals and fiber eat at least 3 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruits of different colors per day.
Meat, fish, milk and eggs
2 to 3 servings a day with 1 serving of meat and at least 1 serving of milk or alternatives provide protein, calcium, iron and zinc. Having enough calcium is necessary for healthy bones and teeth.
Fat, oil, sugar, sweets
They should be consumed in moderation because they have only little nutritional value.
Alcohol and other
Drink alcohol and sweet drinks in moderation or avoid it completely.
Instead drink water. It is recommended to drink at least 3 liters water per day.

Nutrition is one of the important factors for longevity. Reasons for death and disease can be malnutrition such as overnutrition. Aside from nutrition, other factors determine the lifespan such as genetic, environmental and lifestyle. Life expectancy is held as an indicator for the social development of a country. With a healthy food balance you can increase the potential for a longer lifespan.

Is Sugar Consumption Linked to Diabetes?

There is no clear cause of diabetes. However, too much sugar can lead to overweight and high blood sugar which are risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes, the most common form of diabetes. The following possible symptoms can appear if you have been diagnosed with diabetes:
