Born in 1961 in Radolfzell a.B., Klaus Schuhwerk was already a multiple national prize-winner at the "Jugend musiziert" competition as a student. He completed his studies in Trossingen, Basel, and Chicago and was a prize winner of the "Concerts of Young Artists" national selection in 1984.
This was followed by numerous engagements with the HR and SWR Symphony Orchestras, the Bach Collegium Stuttgart and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, as well as Ensemble 13 and ensemble recherche Freiburg, and a long-term collaboration with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn.
Primarily, Klaus Schuhwerk dedicates himself to his lecturing activities. He gives numerous master classes, including at the Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Saarbrücken, Salzburg, and Trossingen music colleges, and is a lecturer in the Federal Youth Orchestra, the Young German Philharmonic, and the World Youth Orchestra.
Following lectureships at the Universität Mainz, the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe as well as the Musikhochschule München , Klaus Schuhwerk has been leading his own trumpet class at the Basel Academy of Music since October 2000. Since 2003, he also holds a professorship for trumpet at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main.
